The Solemn Little Mass
Master of the Opera, gastronome, prone to depression and irascible but also bon viveur, Rossini wrote an ultimate master piece and cried out : « This poor little Mass is now completed. Is it holy or Goddamned music I have created? ».
The Opera Buffa transpires through the sacred music. This unlikely mix is the starting point of the production : Jos Houben is a master of comedy known in France for his Art du rire, an irresistible master class about the components that trigger laughter. With his accomplice Emily Wilson and under the aegis of Charlie Chaplin or Jacques Tati, they assemble soloists and choir in a kind of bric-a-brac where three actors prompt preposterous and crazy situations.
This burlesque contrast, far from disturbing our attention, reveals the mysterious part of daily life.
